Lexington Parks - Hisle Farm Park

Hisle Farm Park (3601 Briar Hill Rd.)
Location - off Bryan Station Road, north of town
Playground? no
Trails? yes, unpaved
Other? barn!, ponds, archery range (at separate entrance)

This was our finale. Our 86th and final park in the LFUCG Parks and Rec system. I saved this one for last since it had some nice walking paths and was larger than some of our other last ones.  It was a chilly 40 degrees, which would have felt warm compared to the three winter storms the week before. However, we had been spoiled with a 60 degree day, so the cloudy 40 degrees felt pretty cool! I had imagined more of hiking trails in the woods, but I had met someone earlier in the week who told me that it was mostly farmland with mown paths. The Hisle Farm was donated to the city and turned into a park. When I told the boys we were taking a 2.5 mile hike, they complained almost the whole way. I should have just let them enjoy the path. By far the biggest hit was the barn. We played in there for over an hour, and it provided a break from the wind, so we ate lunch there, too. Mamaw joined us for the morning to help us celebrate.

Stopping for a snack. I didn't get many pictures from the actual hike, perhaps because I was pulling the wagon up small hills with two small boys. They normally prefer to walk but were definitely clinging to the wagon this day.

Calvin was making different numbers with his sticks.

"Barrel racing"

Mamaw used her creative flair to invent "carnival games" in the pens. Step right up!

Making music

Calvin made up a game where he pokes a stick through a slit, and you have to grab it before he pulls it back.

(Note: We visited all 88 LFUCG parks in the span of a Covid year -- mid-March 2020 to February 2021. These are not meant to be extensive reviews but more a record of our experiences. Eventually I will add hyperlinks to all the blog entries here)
