35 Hours Outside - December 2022

December - 35 hours (1,080 total)

December was our lowest month of the year (new baby, cold temperatures), but since we had already reached our goal, we could coast a bit.  We did a couple hikes with our Wild + Free group (McConnell Springs and Lansdowne-Merrick Park), and we went to the fire station light display on the night that wasn't too chilly. We stopped at the zoo on the way to Indiana and got to see the new baby hippo, and we met a new friend (Rosie), who walked around the whole zoo with us.  In New Castle, we hiked at Summit Lake with friends and looked high and low, to no avail, for the annual ornament hunt.  Then it got really cold and snowy over the days leading up to Christmas, so we mostly stayed inside.  We ended the year with an awesome park (Smothers Park in Owensboro) on the way back from a family gathering.

45 Hours Outside - November 2022

November - 45 hours (1,045 total)

Well, after a big push in October, we slacked off a bit with our time outside.  Part of this was due to the weather, part due to fatigue on my part and also juggling the schedule of pumping eight times a day.  We went to a couple parks -- Hill n' Dale all morning on a school day and Wellington for a sunset walk to the ice cream store.  We also hit up Meadowbrook, Harrods Hill, Cardinal Run, and Gardenside (new playground!). We spent a lot of time raking and playing in the leaves (from the neighbors, since our front yard tree doesn't produce many). We visited in the courtyard with Memaw and played at Evans Orchard on the last day of the season.  And, after months of staying mostly in our front yard at home, we ventured into the forest and introduced Chance to our extended backyard.
