Lexington Parks - Lakeview

Lakeview Park (350 Lakeshore Dr)
Location - next to Henry Clay High School, off Richmond Rd
Playground? yes (park at Manor Drive unless you want to hike through the woods to get there)
Trails? yes, paved and unpaved
Other? woods, bridge, grassy field

This is one of our favorite parks in Lexington. We love shaded, paved trails (like the Brighton Rail Trail and the Beaumont trail system).  This one meanders through the woods and has a couple areas to explore on an unpaved trail. As much as we've explored this park, though, we have never seen a lake (why name it Lakeview if there's no lake to view?). There is also a playground that you can access from Manor Drive or you can do like we did and stumble upon it while romping through the forest.

Spotting a snake slithering along the path (I'm learning to appreciate them and not be terrified by them)

Running from a "monster" (aka brother)

Snack time! This always buys us some extra time!

On our summer walk, we ended up at Henry Clay High, and the boys loved running around to the numbers in the parking lot

We returned in the winter, and I was surprised that you could see the Henry Clay athletic facilities through the trees. I didn't realize they were so close! In the summer, it just looks like trees

Visiting the playground in February

Our new monkey bar champion

It's hard to climb when your hands are full of "spiky balls"

He loves sitting in the big swing. "Faster! Faster!"

His little collection of spiky balls

(Note: We visited all 87 LFUCG parks in the span of a Covid year -- mid-March 2020 to February 2021. These are not meant to be extensive reviews but more a record of our experiences. Eventually I will add hyperlinks to all the blog entries here)
