This time around, I was pleased to find out that there was an interdenominational service in the Royal Theater. We attended both Sundays on board. It was a short 20-minute service led by the priest on board (interestingly, he's from Lexington!). On longer sailings, there's a minister, a priest, and a rabbi. For our cruise, there was only a priest (through Apostleship of the Sea), so he led the daily Catholic mass and also the interdenominational service.
In addition to the Sunday service, I found out about a Bible Study Fellowship group at 10 a.m. during the sea days. At first I thought it was connected to the actual Bible Study Fellowship like the one my mom attends. But this was simply a Bible study and fellowship among believers, men and women. I missed the first couple days but then got into a rhythm of attending almost every day. The leader of the study is from Florida and cruises often. Every day, we'd sing praise songs along with her guitar, dive into a different parable from the Bible, and pray together. It was great. I went while Lucas stayed with the boys, and Carter often came, too.
I found out that Jennifer is part of a Facebook group called Christian Cruisers that helps people lead a Bible study during the sea days of a cruise. There's a way to contact the cruise line to request a meeting room (ours was in a conference room on the second floor). And then she advertised on the Facebook group for our sailing and through magnets and posters near her room.
The next time you're on a cruise, take some time to invest in your spiritual growth, whether you find an existing group or lead one yourself!
Fellowship of the believers! Can't beat it!
