Lexington Parks - Castlewood

Castlewood Park (201 Castlewood Drive)
Location - near North Limestone
Playground? yes
Trails? yes (I think so, anyway. We didn't go on them, but I saw several people walking their dogs)
Other? community center, pool

It was time. Ever since Covid hit in mid-March, we had avoided all playgrounds. In the early days of not knowing how easily it could be spread on surfaces, we wiped down all our groceries and pizza boxes and steered clear of playgrounds. It was easier to explain to our two-year-old that they were off-limits, and he stopped asking. Since the research points to the spread happening more from direct contact, we changed our family's protocol -- we decided that we can play on playgrounds if there aren't other kids running around, too. This way, I don't have to manage social distancing and masks with four boys at once (on top of all the normal playground supervision stress). So, in mid-December on a chilly evening, we played on our first playground in nine months. You'd have thought we were in Disney World from their squeals of joy! Appreciating the simple things...

I had only been to the Castlewood Pool area when I worked at the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club. I was pleased with how neat the playground was.

He was sooo hesitant at first!

Since the little boys (14 months apart) often wear the same clothes, I made the mistake of putting them in different coats than normal. From behind with their hoods up, they're hard to distinguish. Now I always make sure they're in the "right" coats every time.

They had the rubber surface and some neat playground features.

We didn't walk around much -- only to go to the park sign for our picture.

This was a cool area with logs and stumps and sculptures. It would be especially cool when the water is available.

They loved it so much that we stayed until it was getting dark!

(Note: We have visited 50+ parks in Lexington since the beginning of Covid. These are not meant to be extensive reviews but more a record of our experiences. Eventually I will add hyperlinks to all the blog entries here)
