Favorites from the library during quarantine (including More Bears!)

In 5 months' time (since Saturday, March 14th), I have been inside just a handful of places:
  • our house (A LOT!!!!)
  • my in-laws' house twice for visits after each of us were proven "safe"
  • Walgreen's to pick up some pictures and albums to give at 5th grade promotion (with gloves and a mask and a shield at the cash register)
  • my school to pack up my classroom (with gloves and a mask and no close interaction with anyone!)
The two last buildings I went inside before hunkering down were Meijer (so bizarre so see so many empty shelves!) and the library to pick up some books that were on hold. Since then, we have done pick-up orders for our groceries, and our library branches are still closed for the most part. I think in July we could start returning books and also picking up curbside holds (yay!). I'm thankful for that quick run into the library on Friday, March 13th and that we snagged some awesome books to have at home for our extended quarantine. We read these books over and over, and I was sad to have to return them.

Falling for Rapunzel is a clever re-telling of the familiar fairy tale. The Watermelon Seed is about an alligator who accidentally swallowed a watermelon seed and was afraid that a watermelon would start growing in his stomach. Nothing Rhymes with Orange is about how Orange felt left out in a rhyming story about different fruit since "nothing rhymes with orange." "FRUIT! They're healthy, happy, colorful, and cuuuuuute!" 7 Ate 9 is a mystery full of math puns that tickled Carter in particular. It has a fun surprise ending. More Bears!  is a fun story that we all loved, and Cooper would always contribute the "More bears!" part. There's a Dinosaur on the 13th Floor is another funny, surprising story about a man who is trying to find a hotel room, but there are animals in each room. Count the Monkeys is another one that encourages interaction with the reader. We also enjoyed The Boo-Boos that Changed the World about the invention of the band-aid. This one was a bit longer, but the boys still really enjoyed it and kept asking for it.

I wanted to remember these stories that served as a backdrop during our extended time at home. I even recorded Lucas reading More Bears! for us to recall the story and to capture Cooper's cuteness at "helping" with the story.
